As reported on WWLP 22-News, several students at Ludlow High School were stung by yellowjackets during a fire drill recently. In the segment, Natasha noted that the bee and wasp threat is high at the end of summer and early fall due to the large size of colonies and dwindling food resources, which increases the aggressive nature of these stinging insects. Because nests are often hidden underground, people may inadvertently stumble upon them and get stung.
