Mosquito Removal

Mosquitoes Overview

No creature on earth seems to be as universally hated as the mosquito. You’ve certainly encountered them while jogging, camping, grilling, or hiking outside. Or maybe, you’ve heard them buzzing around your house while you’re trying to relax and get some sleep. Either way, mosquito removal is a service you’ve considered before.

The whine of a mosquito near your ear and the itch of a fresh welt left behind after a mosquito bite were often the only consequences you were likely to remember about an average summer evening. Now, due to an uptick in a variety of mosquito-borne diseases, mosquito control has become more important than ever.

Where are Mosquitoes Found?

Mosquitoes are found everywhere, with the exception of the very coldest places on earth, like Antarctica. These blood-sucking pests are most frequently found near shallow, stagnant water where they lay their eggs. This includes birdbaths, pots, buckets, barrels, children’s pools, ponds, swamps or other wetlands. The immature stage, called wigglers, are entirely aquatic and feed on algae and microscopic organisms in standing water. As you’ve probably noticed, the adult mosquitoes are also found around animals and people, because the females need the protein in fresh blood to develop their eggs.

What Makes Mosquitoes Harmful?

Mosquitoes are more than annoying, they’re actually the deadliest creatures in the world! A generation ago, our mosquito concerns were centered around summertime outdoor comfort and the remote chance of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). Now, however, we are also concerned with West Nile and Zika viruses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are no medications to treat or vaccines to prevent West Nile virus infection. Aedes aegypti (yellow fever mosquito) is not found in New England, but we do have Aedes albopictus (Asian tiger mosquito).

Signs Mosquitoes are Present in Your Home or Facility

You probably know a mosquito when you see it, but there are some ways to determine if mosquitoes are in or around your home. You may hear a constant high-pitched buzzing or notice that you are frequently scratching at welts or itchy bumps after being outside in your yard.

Most commonly though, you’ll just see these pests flying around your home, likely near water, shady areas, or around you or your pets. That’s how you know you’re in need of mosquito pest control.

Now that you’ve spotted them, you want to know how to remove mosquitoes.

Braman Termite & Pest Elimination has developed a mosquito removal service to help you reclaim the comfort of your backyard from these pests. Our service, consisting of inspection for potential mosquito breeding places and treatment of mosquito resting places, will greatly reduce the incidence of mosquitoes on your property.

Whether it is in a birdbath, a puddle or the old tire behind the garage, mosquitoes always lay their eggs in standing water or in areas where water will eventually pool. We can help with our specialized Mosquito and Tick Protection Plan™, in which we will assess your home and property to identify any breeding grounds or at-risk areas for these pests. This protection starts in early spring and lasts until late fall and special rates are available for existing members of our Braman MultiPest Plan.

Our goal is to provide safe, effective mosquito removal methods. Braman treats for pests where they are most susceptible by using precision application techniques and the most modern equipment. This helps us avoid harming beneficial insects like pollinators and minimizing the use of pesticides.

Fun Fact

Mosquitoes are hated for good reason—they’re not just annoying, they’re the deadliest creature to humans in the world (other humans and snakes round out the top three)!

Fun Fact

Why are some people more likely to be bit by mosquitoes? One reason may be your blood type—research has found these pests tend to prefer Type “O” blood.
