Much was made of last year’s synchronized emergence of two different broods of periodical cicadas, but their impact was not felt here in southern New England. This spring, however, the emergence of Cicada Brood XIV—one of the largest broods of periodical cicadas, emerging every 17 years—is expected to be seen (and heard) along much of the eastern half of the United States, including Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
