Natasha contributed to this coverage on WWLP 22-News about the discovery of the Asian longhorned tick in Massachusetts. This invasive species, which is spreading throughout New England, is known to carry bacteria that can cause Rocky Mountain spotted fever, which can cause serious health problems.

Thus far, the ticks found in the U.S. have not been found to carry this bacteria; however, all tick bites should be monitored closely.
